About

Caroline Mayers is a textiles artist, maker and mender based in Norfolk. She recently completed her MA in Textile Design at Norwich University of the Arts and received The Textile Society’s Postgraduate Bursary Award in 2025.

Caroline’s art practice explores the intersection of memory and materiality using textiles as her chosen medium. Rooted in personal narrative, she uses making as a process of self-reflection, drawing on her own embodied experience. Each piece functions both as therapy and as dialogue, creating space for shared connection around themes of identity, gender, and emotional resonance.

Working with repurposed and organic materials, natural dyes and traditional craft techniques, she embraces imperfection and values slowness in the handmade. Her work invites viewers to encounter these personal reflections while considering their own lived experience.

Caroline is continuing her fine art practice, working towards further exhibitions, and developing her arts for wellbeing textiles workshops. Her studio practice runs alongside her role as Head of Media, Marketing and Communications at the Sainsbury Centre art museum.
